Enkelejd Alibeaj, a member of the Democratic Party’s presidency, said that the democrats should not repeat the mistake from the past elections when it comes to choosing their potential candidates.
During an interview on Ilva Now, Alibeaj said that strong filters should be in place for party candidates while assuring that the Joint Opposition will win the elections.
He said to believe in the victory because if the opposition’s coalition would have entered the last elections together they would have won the majority.
“We were a majority since 2017, despite the coalition games that were played, and turned out differently. Overall, I can sense it everywhere, from my neighbours to the people at the bars. There is broad dissatisfaction, almost repugnance, of people who want this nightmare to be over. Which is what I am saying. April 25 is a possibility for all those who want to speak up and topple the regime”, said Alibeaj.
According to the former MP of the Democratic Party, the fear of losing the elections is clearly visible among the ruling majority because since the political agreement brokered by the internationals, the prime minister began amending the Constitution and discussing a ban on pre-electoral coalitions.
“Starting off with their claim for 74 MP, it implies that they are clinging. I don’t see it as a clear confrontation but as a clash among the society and a single individual”, said Alibeaj.
The former MP then added that is expects from the PM Rama to do whatever is necessary to challenge the opposition through legal tactics.
“I am sure that the opposition coalition is not simply a mathematic coalition, but a voice. We might receive undeserved votes due to the vast discontent”, said Alibeaj, adding that it seems that the ruling majority is withdrawing from their request for an open-list system.
